Today, I Call To Mind What Matters Most

Today, I call to mind what matters most and rest in happiness for what I have. Life is change and change is good; not even molecules remain the same. I embrace my growth with a sense of wonder.

As I remember who I am makes a difference, I choose happiness beyond reason, accepting life in its infinite grace. Today, I am patient and kind as I breathe in the stillness of the moment. I tithe fully and with great love. The train of my life is on track and my destination secured. The ride remains an adventure.

Update:

About a month ago I had dinner with a very rich man who wanted to impress me. There were long stemmed roses waiting for me at the table, as well as other gifts my friends said they would have found overwhelming.

I was awed at how easily this person spent money and as he spoke of his travels I remembered that once when I was very little, my family was rich. And yes, I liked that life better. Not only because my parents were nuttier without money but because we had access to so much more culture and ease.

Maybe this isn’t universally true, but it was for us. People used to treat my father like a rock star, and his own way of being was often bigger than life.

So as I sat at dinner, I remembered having choices. Can’t decide on a vegetable, why order them all. I wouldn’t sell my soul for vegetables or any other side dish, but it was interesting to remember where I once lived, the way the sidewalk curved around our endless lawn. All the streets seemed to form angles, and the air was soft. I will never forget the particular blue of the sky. And how quiet a day could be.

I was lucky to have that sense of place and sad for a long time after it was gone. For most of my life I felt as if I had no place in this world, but since I was here I had to make the best of it so I studied, and meditated and learned and learned.

There is learning from books and learning from being. There are personality traits that somehow seem innate. My sister was the adventurer and I was sickly. These were roles we didn’t then know we could change. “Be careful not to want too much,” an inner voice can say, but what is wanting?

Metaphysics says that this world was made for me and the Universe always says yes. Pray as if you already have it. Ask and ye shall receive. Listen to that still small voice within.

So, I ask you today, what do you truly wish to receive? Maybe it’s a big house on a curved street or it’s the contentment you think that house would bring. Create the contentment and the rest will follow. You’ll be an irresistible energetic space.

That’s the only good thing I found about loss. You have to create from inside. But once you have something on the inside, no one can take it. In fact, it’s likely to manifest out.

The ancient Chinese oracle, the I-Ching, tells us that we are here to learn cycles and to trust the creative. As we become receptive to nature we see that no matter what the outside circumstances, they will inevitably change. What we thought was bad might ultimately bring joy. It all brings growth if we let it.
