How moods and conditions can affect psychic readings

Here Is Today’s Psychic Thought:

“Not always did he [Edgar Cayce] respond to the suggestion to give a reading. His health was often the determining factor; the thoughts of those around him could be either detrimental or helpful. Perhaps the person requesting the reading was somehow not in tune, or was told he or she might not have a reading at that time—for reasons not always explained. An atmosphere of prayer, an attitude of hope and faith and love were those in which Edgar functioned best. But his own well-being was paramount, and his dreams often guided his efforts in that direction.”

Gladys Davis Turner, My Years With Edgar Cayce

Reading the quote about Cayce was edifying for me because I’ve been interested in how moods and conditions can affect readings.

Sometimes…as J.B. Rhine discovered in testing psychics at Duke University…we read accurately almost in spite or in defiance of conditions. This, he surmised, is likely fueled by adrenaline.

Ideally, however, we have a prayerful and receptive atmosphere in which our own sensitivities can be contained, and our information received. Rhine’s tests bear out the increased accuracy when the psychics were well rested.

We want to think that you’re either psychic or you’re not, and if you are, you should know everything all the time. However, it doesn’t seem to work totally as an all-or-nothing proposition, as Rhine discovered when attempting to create rigid laboratory controls.

We can prepare, generally through rest, prayer and meditation, but as a psychic once told me, “Spirit comes when it wants.”

And I would add to that, “as it wants.” Sometimes the information we receive is quite surprising. For instance, the client asks a surface question: should I buy this product or this product, and the sense comes back that it’s not about those products but something deeper in the client’s relationships and heart.

As anyone in a service position, psychics want their clients not only to receive full value for their money, but to also have a sense of satisfaction that their questions and issues have been addressed.

In my experience, the information that arises usually cuts to the core and brings up things that may need to be discovered or resolved. However, that can also depend upon the receptivity of the client. On a good day, it answers both deep and superficial questions. Sometimes, we won’t know what all the words and ideas mean until later, when issues are borne out.
