My True Psychic Story

By Lorrie Kazan

I won story of the week in Kajama Digest and Divine Whispers for this true account:

Many years ago, I was in a serious car accident. It was the kind of accident you are supposed to die from. I was in the passenger seat and was not wearing a seat belt.

I had been dating a guy named Jesse that I had decided to break away from.  Late one night, he stood under my balcony in Venice Beach and  pleaded with me to go out with him.  Against my inner feeling, I agreed to go one last time and got into the car.

He became angry and  started driving really fast (speeding up to 90 mph, he later told me), definitely well over the speed limit.  A Volkswagon turned left in front of us and Jesse lost control of the car.  We skidded for 250 ft, took down small trees, 7 feet of wire mesh fence, hit a building and finally landed against a light pole.

When we were skidding and glass was shattering on my face, I thought, "We are going to die."

Then I felt a force hold me back.  It was gentle but yet clearly present and I thought, "if I never believed in God, I sure do tonight."  I knew we would not be killed.  (Someone later told me this experience was a subtle form of a near-death experience).  Clearly the police and fire crew were shocked to find us alive.  When the fire crew was navigating how to get us out of the car, I heard them say it might go up in flames any moment.  I was pinned in the car and couldn't move and they pulled us out without anything catching flame.  Perhaps we were saved a second time that night.  Co-incidentally, an off-duty policeman had been driving behind us and called it in immediately.  These were well before the days of cell phones!

One of the first people to reach the car was a street guy (ironically, that I had just been thinking of) named Sean.  He told me he had been a medic in Vietnam.  The fire department and police pushed him away but he stopped them just as I was carried into the ambulance and he handed me my purse that had been left in the car.  If he hadn't given me that, I would have had no proof of insurance and would have been sent to county hospital downtown instead of Santa Monica Hospital.

At the time I would rather have died than gone through the recovery and all the issues that I would need to deal with.  But I was saved for something so I try to honor that.

I've had a few other miraculous saves, but this one can be documented with newspaper photos and hospital records.
